African Females Negotiators Program (AFNP)

About the AFNP

The African Females Negotiators Program (AFNP) is a non-profitable organization that aims to train and nurture Young African Females to join country level and African Group of Negotiators (AGN) negotiations. The organization was established in 2024, by three (3) young females from three (3) African countries namely: Nigeria, Liberia and Ghana. The parent country of this organization is Ghana under the Center for Opportunities and Rural Development (CORD Ghana).

The African Females Negotiators Program (AFNP) will support young females from all 54 countries in Africa in Climate Diplomacy and address women under-representation. The African Females Negotiators Program came into being due to the inadequate number of women in the climate change decision making space. Over the period it has been observed that women participation in climate change negotiations at the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) meetings and other climate related meetings has been underscored, because of that the idea of grooming young females from around Africa to have them trained and lead them through high level UNFCCC meetings, was or is the basis of this initiative.

Young women being one of the most vulnerable in society to climate change and its impacts, should not be left out in decision making forums, nor should their representation be low. Young women are the ones who are on the ground when the direct effect of climate change takes place in African countries and African typical cities.
